Many players and coaches have come out to share their experiences with Cora, and nearly all of them have had nothing but good things to say. However, the Red Sox's slow start was undeniable, and Craig Breslow decided to make a change. Mookie Betts was finally asked about his former manager being fired, and was asked if he had spoken to him.
"That ain’t got nothing to do with me and I stay out of that," Betts told Dodgers Talk's David Vassegh . Betts is deciding to stay out of the Red Sox's drama entirely. Regardless of how things ended between Betts and the Red Sox, he has always spoken highly of Cora and the coaching staff.
He has noted that he understands the business. However, he made it clear that what happened between the Red Sox and Cora does not concern him. Betts played two seasons with the Red Sox while Cora was managing.
He was an All-Star in both seasons, winning MVP and the World Series in 2018. The Betts trade will always be a major point in Red Sox history, but at this point, he is a Dodger and figures to end his career in Los Angeles. Betts has spent more time with the Dodgers than the Red Sox now, but he will always be tied to the Red Sox in some way.
