49ers 53-man roster projection: Post-2026 NFL Draft edition
Now that the draft is over, it’s time to predict the 49ers’ 2026 roster heading into Week 1

The San Francisco 49ers could make a change here and there to their roster, but we have a good idea of what the team will look like heading into mini-camp and training camp.
Thirteen starters return from the team that made the Divisional playoff round, and that does not count the injured stars like George Kittle and Nick Bosa. There aren’t many jobs to win for the rookies, which is why it’ll be tough for the entire class to make the roster . Let’s make some predictions about the roster.
Quarterback (2) Kurtis Rourke will compete with Adrian Martinez for the practice squad job. There was a thought that Rourke would be QB2 heading into this season, but the 49ers did not trade Mac Jones. Brock Purdy and Jones will be the two on the active game day roster.
Running back (4) Christian McCaffrey should see a significant decrease in touches—or at least as Kyle Shanahan can tolerate without feeling like he’s compromising his offense. Kyle Juszczyk, Kaelon Black, and Jordan James are locks. This means the end of the road for Isaac Guerendo, a player the 49ers drafted in 2024.
