Michigan basketball coach Dusty May discusses the status of players who declared for the NBA draft and their potential return.

The Michigan basketball roster status is up in the air, and will be for at least another month or so, with the NBA draft combine upcoming in mid-May, and then with the Wolverines players who had entered making their decisions about their futures. Michigan has seen three players declare for the NBA draft, with all three having the option to return to college. The prevailing thought and intel had been that point guard Elliot Cadeau would return to the program next season, center Aday Mara would likely be gone, while forward Morez Johnson Jr.

was leaning toward a return. However, with Johnson, the intel had somewhat swung, and his status is a bit more murky. Johnson may end up staying in and going pro, but one person who is not working to get him back to Ann Arbor is head coach Dusty May.

"We don't recruit against him. I mean, what are we gonna tell Morez? " May said.

"Yesterday was probably the first day that I haven't talked to Morez in a couple weeks, talked to him every day. But it's more just supporting him, checking on him, just having a conversation about his well-being and whatnot. But when guys declare for the draft, we don't ever recruit them back.
