For most of Game 5 on Tuesday night, the Boston Celtics appeared to be in control. They had a solid lead for much of the game and went ahead by double digits in the third quarter, seemingly poised to put the Philadelphia 76ers away. The Celtics failed to bury the Sixers, however, letting them hang around and go on a late run.
Boston wasn't able to respond, missing 16 straight field goal attempts to end the game and suffering an embarrassing 113-97 loss at TD Garden. Now, the Celtics must return to Philadelphia for Game 6 on Thursday. While Joe Mazzulla can be blunt at times during his press conferences, he struck a surprisingly optimistic tone in the aftermath of Tuesday's defeat.
