Millie Bright announces retirement from football Chelsea defender Millie Bright has announced her retirement from football with immediate effect. "Representing Chelsea over the last 12 years has been everything to me, but I'm now ready to say goodbye to playing football," 32-year-old Bright said about her decision. "I’ve given all I can, and I never wanted to fight for any other badge.
It is now time, and I'm ready to go into a new era. I’m always going to be Chelsea, but just in a different way. " Bright had previously announced her international retirement back in October after having earned 88 caps for England and represented Great Britain at the 2020 Olympics.
Now, the former Doncaster Belles defender has called time on a trophy-laden career in which she won multiple WSL titles, FA Cups, and League Cups during her time in Chelsea. Her last career appearance came back in February when she started in the Blues' 2-0 win away to Tottenham Hotspur in the WSL. In total, she made 314 appearances for Chelsea and will continue to represent the club as an ambassador.
