Part of it was the switch from Stuart Skinner to Arturs Silovs in goal, who the Flyers cannot quite solve. Other reasons include the Flyers’ lack of an answer to the Penguins’ increase of physicality, domination on the boards, and, well, lucky goals. After winning Game 4 in Philadelphia, the Penguins did not force the series back home to let the Flyers win in Pittsburgh.
They did it to keep their season alive. Now, the Penguins have the chance to force the series to 7 games. Only 4 teams in NHL history have come back following a 0-3 series deficit.
The Flyers do not want to end up on the wrong side of the 5th time in NHL history. If the series ends up back in Pittsburgh for Game 7, the Flyers would be the massive underdog. That is why the Flyers have to treat Wednesday’s Game 6 like it’s a Game 7.
