Yahoo Sports

Although Steve Kerr played with greats like Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman, he didn't hesitate when calling Draymond Green the best defender.

Before coming to a decision on his future with the Golden State Warriors , head coach Steve Kerr had an interview with The New Yorker. There, Kerr used the opportunity to praise one of his long-time players, Draymond Green. "He's the best defensive player I've ever seen.

And that's saying a lot, given that I played with Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman," said Kerr. Kerr goes on to say, "Draymond, he can guard any action, any position, any player. And he can also blow up the play behind the play if he's not involved in the action because of his brain, his speed, his reach.

" A former Defensive Player of the Year Award winner in 2016-17, Green has also made nine All-Defensive selections. Green is certainly in the conversation for best defensive player of this generation; however, Rudy Gobert may make the best case in that regard, owning four Defensive Player of the Year Awards and eight All-Defensive selections. With two Defensive Player of the Year Awards and seven All-Defensive selections, Kawhi Leonard should be in that conversation as well.

Either way, it's clear to recognize Green as an all-time great. This article originally appeared on Warriors Wire: Steve Kerr praises Draymond Green over former teammates Pippen/Rodman
