Saints hit six homers in 9-5 home win against Iowa Cubs
Kaelen Culpepper and Emmanuel Rodriguez each hit a pair of home runs as the St. Paul Saints homered a season-high six times on Tuesday in a 9-5 home win against the Iowa Cubs. The ball was flying out at CHS Field on a mild spring afternoon, with Kyler Fedko and Gabriel Gonzalez also going deep for the Saints, who won their third game in a row after a four-game losing streak.
The game was the opener of a six-game homestand for St. Paul, which hosts Iowa at 6:37 p. m.
CDT on Wednesday. The homers started early as Culpepper led off the bottom of the first inning with his first home run of the game. Gonzalez had an RBI single and Fedko hit a three-run homer, his sixth of the season, in a five-run first.
Gonzalez then homered in the second for his seventh of the season. Iowa hit four homers, as well, with two coming in a three-run third. Culpepper added his fifth homer of the season in the fourth.
Rodriguez homered in the fifth and seventh for six total this season. John Klein started on the mound for St. Paul and gave up three runs in four innings pitched.
