Man United hit with fixture uncertainty after latest PL announcement Manchester United are facing a wait to find out the date for their final home game of the season against Vitor Pereira’s Nottingham Forest. Champions League football in sight United are just one step away from securing their spot in next season’s Champions League after beating Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford on Monday evening. Casemiro and Benjamin Sesko both scored in the first half to give the Red Devils a solid lead heading into the break.

Mathias Jensen pulled one back for the Bees in the 87th minute, but United managed to hold on to the victory. Michael Carrick and his players need just two points from their remaining four matches to mathematically seal qualification into the continent’s most prestigious competition. At present, United sit in third place in the Premier League table on 61 points, three above Liverpool and Aston Villa in fourth and fifth respectively.

Champions League football would not only boost United’s spending power but also strengthen their negotiating position with transfer targets. On Tuesday, the Premier League announced that United’s final home match of the season, against Forest, is still subject to change. Fixture uncertainty United are set to take on Forest on the penultimate weekend of the season but a date will only be confirmed after Pereira’s side have played their Europa League semi-final tie against Aston Villa.

The Europa League final is in Istanbul on Wednesday, May 20, so the Premier League is doing whichever side qualifies a favour by moving their game to Friday night to give them extra time to get ready. The issue is that fans have no idea when the games will be played, which brings about logistical problems. United confirm that no games can be played on Saturday, May 16, due to the Emirates FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester City at Wembley.

Due to this, United vs. Forest has been pencilled in for Sunday 17 May, a 12:30 BST kick-off. It will be shown live on Sky Sports.
