Former Cardinals, Raiders, Giants DE Josh Mauro dies at 35 years old
Mauro played eight seasons in the NFL, six of them with the Cardinals. He also played for the Giants and Raiders.
Former NFL defensive end Josh Mauro has died at 35 years old. Mauro’s father, Greg Mauro, announced his death in a Facebook post on Tuesday. The Las Vegas Raiders later confirmed his death.
Mauro died on April 23. A cause of death was not revealed. “With many tears and broken hearts, yet anchored in the unshakable certainty that our precious Josh Mauro is now healed and made new — living in the presence of the Lord — we humbly covet your prayers as our family walks through the devastating loss of our amazing son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend,” Greg Mauro wrote on Facebook.
“On Thursday, April 23rd, Josh breathed his last breath on this earth and his first breath in heaven. ” Mauro played eight seasons in the NFL from 2014-2021. He played six of those seasons across two stints that bookended his career with the Arizona Cardinals.
He played a single season with the New York Giants in 2018 and another with the Oakland Raiders in 2019. The Raiders offered condolences in a statement Tuesday afternoon. pic.
