SEC softball rankings: How many teams will host NCAA regionals?
As the SEC softball regular season comes to a close, Oklahoma leads the rankings with the NCAA tournament approaching.
As the final weekend of the college softball regular season approaches, attention has started to turn to what the postseason could look like for the SEC . The conference's tournament is next week in Lexington, Kentucky , before Selection Sunday, but there’s already buzz about how many teams the league could see not only make the NCAA tournament, but host regional games. Currently, six of the top eight teams and nine of the top 16 in RPI are from the SEC.
There are still a couple of weeks of games to be played, but it’ll be fascinating to see how the deepest league in the sport shapes up. Now, for this week’s SEC softball rankings: Super 16 college softball rankings: OU unanimous No. 1 after sweeping Georgia 1.
Oklahoma Record: 46-6, 18-3 SEC Last week’s ranking: 1 The Sooners remain at the top of the SEC after sweeping Georgia this past weekend. That’s now four SEC series sweeps this season for OU, which has won all seven of its SEC series. The Sooners finish the regular season by traveling to face Texas A&M in a three-game series this week.
2. Alabama Record: 44-6, 15-5 Last week’s ranking: 2 The Crimson Tide dropped a road series to Tennessee this past weekend, their first series loss in SEC play in 2026. But, Alabama showed just how dangerous it can be with a 12-0 run-rule win over the Volunteers last Saturday.
