The Patriots have reported interest in the former Steelers head coach.

This comes after he was the longest tenured head coach in American sports, spending 19 seasons at the helm of the Steelers.

It’s widely anticipated that Tomlin will entertain head coaching offers after a year of doing TV, and there may be a team already eyeing him nearly a year in advance. In light of the scandal involving New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and NFL insider Dianna Russini, Vrabel wasn’t present for Day Three of the NFL Draft. And while it isn’t expected that the Patriots would fire Vrabel, nor is he expected to step down, New England does reportedly have eyes on a replacement should it become necessary.

In a recent report by Ben Nagle and Russ Weakland of the Daily Mail , New England would pursue Tomlin should the situation become dire enough. “The krafts are extremely loyal and have no intention of firing Mike, nor do they want to see him quit over al this drama,” Nagle and Weakland write. “But if these upcoming few months go haywire, and if they are put in a situation of no return, either with the team not doing well or the drama of Mike’s family issues taking over and forcing a decision on Mike’s coaching future, the one person that they would seek to replace him would be Mike Tomlin.

” Vrabel led the Patriots to the Super Bowl in his first season in New England, with the Patriots going 14-3 and winning the AFC East in 2025 before losing in the final game of the season to the Seattle Seahawks.
