The Buffalo Sabres put their season into the goalie glove of Alex Lyon, and as they navigate their first playoff series in 15 years, Lyon has delivered. Lyon didn't start Buffalo's return to the playoffs, but by Game 2, he had been subbed in for Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, and the net has remained his. It's been quite the journey to reach such a moment for Lyon.

He wasn't drafted, and he's bounced around professional hockey. But now in the spotlight, Lyon looks like he belongs. "My career has shaped the way that I approach the game to a degree," Lyon told reporters before Game 5 of the first round against the Boston Bruins .

"Just don't really feel like I've been given anything and have had to work for everything. Credit to Tim and Deb Lyon for raising me that way. It fits well in Buffalo.
