Detroit Pistons leaning on season motto ahead of potential elimination

While going back home down 3-1 to the Magic, the Pistons are leaning upon their season motto amid an attempt to stave off a Game 5 elimination.

Detroit โ€” Music, laughter, pure joy, and fun filled the Detroit Pistons' locker room, echoing through nearly every one of the 60 wins they earned during the regular season. Having a loud locker room became the norm for the Pistons, a trend that began when they started turning around the franchise's trajectory in January 2025. On Monday night inside Kia Center, the Pistons' locker room was louder than ever; however, it was filled with an unprecedented silence.

There was no music, no laughter, and far from any sense of joy. Instead, players sat in disbelief and disappointment after suffering a 94-88 loss to the Orlando Magic . The despair in the locker room was not only due to going down 3-1 after the Game 4 loss, but also to the realization that a team once favored to emerge from the Eastern Conference is now just one game away from its season ending.

"Clearly, (Game 5) is a must-win game. We went into the series saying we needed to win the possession game. This has come down to the rebounding battle and taking care of the basketball," forward Tobias Harris said.

โ€œIn all of our losses, those are what we haven't been able to be at our best at. Give them the credit. They have made the biggest shots, but at the same time, a lot of that has come from defensive lapses.
