However, while that is the case, the Rams and Stafford have been doing their best to negotiate a new deal. While there has been some progress, a new deal has yet to materialize. Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic shared in her latest column.

"The two sides have not yet fully agreed on Stafford's adjusted contract, although a league source said progress has been made. " Rams stand firm on Matthew Stafford leading the way NFL Network's Ian Rapoport shared last week that the two sides were in "deep conversations. " The expectation for the Rams and Stafford is that a deal will eventually get done that has him playing in Los Angeles in 2026 and a couple of seasons after that.

If that deal gets done, that now begs the question about when Ty Simpson will see the field. Simpson is 23 years old and is the heir apparent to the 2025 MVP. Although Stafford will enter his age-38 season, he's shown that he has plenty left in the tank.
