Matt Law’s piece today is all about Chelsea striker Liam Delap.
After a promising Premier League spell with Ipswich, the striker signed for the Blues for his £30m release clause little under a year ago, looking a good value addition as a backup to our attacking options. However it’s really not worked out for him. We all knew he would be a rough diamond, but he looks so far off the level it’s hard to see him improving enough to be a Chelsea regular at any point.
Even as an option off the bench he offers little, and he’s scored just one Premier League goal all year. Liam Delap determined to make Chelsea move stick Law’s piece claims that rather than looking for a move away, Delap is “focused on trying to finish the season as positively as possible and returning to Chelsea in the summer to prepare for next season. ” Their sources say that “he believes he can make his move a success.
” We have no doubt he believes that – but we also wouldn’t be surprised if he’s shipped off pretty sharpish on loan or on a permanent deal if a good offer comes in. In other news… Marc Cucurella has been linked with moves away from Chelsea, with Barcelona apparently hot on his heels this summer. Wayne Rooney suggested an interesting candidate for Chelsea’s manager in his latest BBC podcast.
