Having the largest payroll in baseball ($333. 151 million), the Mets are tied with the Philadelphia Phillies for the worst record in baseball (9-19). The Mets roster is full of talent, containing one of the best hitters in baseball, outfielder Juan Soto, and the more exciting arms to watch, rookie right-hander Nolan McLean.
The Mets added to that talent this offseason with the acquisition of outfielder Luis Robert Jr. and right-hander Freddy Peralta, who have not seemed to bring more wins. Given how poorly the Mets have played, they received the most scorn from baseball executives around the league.
