Atletico Madrid manager opens up on Barcelona target’s future – ‘I’m not in his head’ Robert Lewandowski’s future at Barcelona beyond this season is in serious doubt, and the club are already attentive to possible replacements on the market. One player they have admired for a long time and whom they continue to eye is none other than Julian Alvarez. While the player’s goalscoring record this season may not be the best, he has shown to have the quality required to succeed at the highest level.

Barcelona, needless to say, are willing to sign him even if there is a significant fee involved and the player is reportedly open to a switch too . Simeone speaks on Alvarez Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone spoke to the media recently in a press conference where he was asked about the future of Julian Alvarez and whether he felt the Argentine phenom may leave for Barcelona in June. “I’m not inside Julian Alvarez’s head,” Simeone began bluntly, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo .

Because he’s very good,” he added. Alvarez was a key weapon for Los Rojiblancos in both of their aggregate wins over Barcelona this season and has shown time and time again to be a big-game player. At a time when Barcelona need fresh feet at centre-forward, his profile is indeed one of the most tempting ones on the market, although Atletico Madrid will not make it easy for the Catalans to sign him.

The possible fee is rumoured to be north of €100 million as things stand.
