The Browns have an overloaded QB depth chart already, but one more is coming aboard -- a clear longshot but another passer who will state his case. The new guy is Bryson Barnes, who has received an invite to rookie minicamp, according to On SI . Barnes is an athletic quarterback from Utah State who measures 6-foot-1.
He actually began his college career with three seasons at Utah before transferring from the Utes to the Aggies and staying in-state. MORE: Diego Pavia, Shedeur Sanders and an NFL QB problem that goes back to Tim Tebow In 2025, he threw for 2,803 yards and 18 touchdowns with just five interceptions. He also ran 189 times for 740 yards and 10 touchdowns in his final college season -- and even caught two passes for seven yards.
There's definitely some legitimate athletic talent here, and the Browns have clearly decided they want to see that up close in case there's some kind of specialty role they could envision for Barnes down the road. His odds of actually earning a QB spot are minimal considering that the Browns already have Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel and the newly drafted Taylen Green. At minimum, Barnes is helpful to operate things at rookie minicamp and gives the Browns a name for back of mind in case they need someone down the line.
