Florida edge rusher Tyreak Sapp was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cleveland Browns on Saturday after the 2026 NFL Draft. The three-year starter now looks to translate his power and agility at the next level as he joins former teammate Austin Barber in Cleveland. At 6-foot-2.
5-inches, 274-pounds, Sapp excelled at using leverage and strength to establish himself as a consistent force in the Gators ' run defense. After redshirting in 2021, Sapp's development was steady with the Orange and Blue. The Fort Lauderdale native continued to carve out a larger role in Gainesville until his breakout campaign in 2024.
His seven sacks and his 13 tackles for loss led the Gators' defense that season, helping him earn a 90. 4 Pro Football Focus grade, which was a team high; the rating was also fifth-best in the SEC among edge rushers. Sapp totaled over 120 tackles, double-digit sacks and more than 20 tackles for loss during his career at Florida.
Those numbers validate an evaluation highlighting his strength and ability to set the edge at the next level. Hailed as a reliable run defender, Sapp is strong at the point of attack with a knack for anchoring against blockers. Coupling the Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List honoree's effort and burst in the pass rush, evaluators see a developmental piece.
