The Spanish defender hasn’t been playing a relevant role since Arbeloa took over, something which will likely prevent him from making Spain’s list for the upcoming FIFA World Cup. As the captain, his leadership hasn’t been there either. Real Madrid’s culture hasn’t been a positive one this year and Carvajal, along with some other veterans, could have stopped that from happening.
