Injured Serge Gnabry brought to PSG for moral support with Bayern Munich
The FC Bayern star still plays an important role.
MUNICH, GERMANY - APRIL 15: Serge Gnabry of FC Bayern Munich arrives at the stadium prior to the UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Quarter-Final Second Leg match between FC Bayern München and Real Madrid CF at Football Arena Munich on April 15, 2026 in Munich, Germany. Worse, Gnabry is also expected to miss the World Cup with Germany.
One thing that the 31-year-old will not let go of, however, is his leadership role with Bayern Munich. Even injured, Gnabry made the trip to Paris to support the squad. “Serge is a key player for us, and also someone who has long played a different role.
For us, he’s someone who brings the team together, including all the different cultures in the dressing room. It was his decision to come with. We always welcome that,” head coach Vincent Kompany said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ).
When people ask why Kompany, Max Eberl, Christoph Freund, and the rest of Bayern Munich’s brass wanted to sign Gnabry to an extension, it was about more than just his production on the field this season. The leadership and glue-like effect he has on the locker room go a long way in determining Gnabry’s true value to the team.
