Mock trade proposal reveals how the Warriors could land Giannis

Yahoo Sports

While Giannis would be a great addition to the Warriors, Golden State may have to send more assets to Milwaukee in order to complete this deal.

The Golden State Warriors have a challenging offseason of decisions ahead of them. First, the team will meet with Steve Kerr as the two sides discuss whether or not the 12-year head coach will remain with the team. Then, players like Draymond Green, Al Horford and De'Anthony Melton will all have to decide whether or not to exercise their player options.

However, NBA writer Eric Pincus offered an easy solution that would fix the Warriors' status as contenders. In a recent article with Bleacher Report, Pincus proposed a mock trade that would send Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo to Golden State for Jimmy Butler III, Brandin Podziemski and four first-round picks. Those picks would come from the 2026, 2027, 2030 and 2032 drafts.

While this deal would reignite Golden State's status as championship contenders with Stephen Curry and Antetokounmpo paired together, it's worth considering that the Bucks are likely to receive better offers from other franchises. Four first-round picks will be appealing, but Milwaukee won't be thrilled to acquire Butler III (torn ACL), who will turn 37 next season, and Podziemski who is nearing the end of his rookie contract and has yet to average 15 points per game in a full season. If Golden State acquires Antetokounmpo this offseason, expect the deal to involve more assets.
