Carson Young, Laura LeMar named April 13-19 Athletes of the Week
Jonesville baseball athlete Carson Young and Pittsford softball ace Laura LeMar won April 13-19 Athlete of the Week awards.
HILLSDALE COUNTY โ Two athletes have earned Hillsdale County Athlete of the Week awards for their performances between April 13-19. Junior Carson Young, a Swiss-army-knife player for Jonesville varsity baseball, won the April 13-19 reader's choice Athlete of the Week poll. Pittsford senior ace Laura LeMar was named the Hillsdale Daily News Choice Athlete of the Week honoree.
Together, both athletes had impressive performances across the field for their respective teams. More: Hillsdale leads field events in early 2026 Area Best boys standings Reader's Choice: Carson Young โ Jonesville baseball Young was a team leader in bats, the catcher behind home plate and a pitcher on the mound this past week for Jonesville baseball. He finished the week with four RBIs, three double-base hits, one triple, six totals hits and a run scored.
He also pitched in a 5-3 win over Michigan Center, throwing over four innings, striking out four and giving up just two earned runs. Young continues to earn a place in the weekly top performers for the area, and he looks to be one of Jonesville's top players when playoff ball comes later in the spring. Runner-Up: Mckenna Drake - Camden-Frontier Softball In a reader's choice race, Mckenna Drake of Camden-Frontier softball came up just short of winning the voting poll.
Drake combined with Madi Drake to throw a no-hitter in a 12-0 win over Waldron. Drake also added three total runs and a steal in the game. In the circle, she threw two innings, striking out four batters while giving up one walk.
