This is the name of the game at the end of the day, but the most recent example of all this was a bit surprising, as the Boston Red Sox got rid of Alex Cora. It made big waves across the sports world, including at the NBA level, when Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla made comments about the Red Sox's decision. He didn't say whether he agreed or disagreed with it, but he gave Cora some words of encouragement, which is always very nice to see and hear from a coach as well-regarded as Mazzulla.
“He’s great,” Mazzulla said , per Newsweek. “I think he does a great job building relationships with the players, navigating the ebbs and flows of a long season, and staying even-keeled. I’m grateful that I’ve gotten to learn from him.
Wherever he goes, I know he’ll be good. ” Mazzulla understands in the back of his head that if he doesn't perform well at any moment throughout the next few years for the Celtics, anything is possible. That's the harsh reality of coaching in Boston, especially for the Celtics, perhaps the most storied franchise in NBA history.
