Liverpool hold talks over £87m Yan Diomande deal Liverpool hold talks over Diomande Red Bull may even attempt to sign their star winger to a new contract and drive his price up even higher for a sale in a transfer window further down the line. The player has declared a preference for a move to Anfield - a development which surely goes in Liverpool’s favour if Red Bull are minded to sell. And now a report in Football Insider claims another factor could determine Liverpool leading the race for Diomande.
“Liverpool have made contact with Yan Diamonde’s representatives ahead of the summer transfer window,” the report reads. Liverpool's Red Bull advantage “Liverpool hold a strong relationship with Leipzig, with multiple deals being done with the two clubs in the past, and there is a hope that this can help get the deal over the line," the report reads. There are strong institutional relations between Red Bull and Liverpool - who have collaborated on many multi-million transfers in recent seasons.
Takumi Minamino signed from Red Bull Salzburg while Dominik Szoboszlai, Ibrahima Konate and Naby Keita have all moved to Anfield directly from Leipzig. Furthermore loan players including Stefan Bajcetic and Fabio Carvalho have also had experiences away from Anfield under the Red Bull umbrella. Jurgen Klopp - the former Liverpool manager - is global head of football with the Austrian megacorp while one-time assistant Pep Lijnders left Liverpool to take up the head coach’s position at Salzburg last season.
