The New York Jets are going to be one of the most interesting teams to watch in 2026, but it's clear they aren't close to contending just yet.

The team added edge-rusher David Bailey, tight end Kenyon Sadiq, and wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. all in the first round. Bailey should be able to transform the pass rush, while Cooper and Sadiq are solid targets for, presumably, Geno Smith.
Don't get me wrong, nobody expects the Jets to contend in 2026. However, several of their games were very close in 2025, so it's not unrealistic to expect several more wins. At least, if you want to be optimistic.
However, Cooper Petagna of CBS Sports recently unveiled his way-too-early 2027 mock draft, and it has good and bad news for the Jets. The bad news is, Petagna has the Jets landing the No. 1 pick, which means 2025 is going to be rough.
