The Korean seems to be enjoying his life in Bavaria. “I’ve never experienced a long period of not playing, so it was a bit difficult at first. But over time, I’ve realized there are positives.
I rely heavily on my speed, and our team plays a style that demands a lot of physical effort. So I think the current situation is good. I always thought that playing regularly was the solution, but now I’m happy with my role as a challenger,” Kim said.
Kim has not lived up to the billing he had when Bayern Munich signed him and with a potential sense of complacency setting in, it might be tough to get him to give up his €15 million total package of a salary. Surely, if Kim was to leave Bayern Munich, he would have to take a reduced rate — something he would probably not want to do.
