Alumni update: Hayfield's Fritcher and Austin's Shute are stepping up in the college ranks
Apr. 27— Hayfield grad Easton Fritcher delivered his biggest hit as a Tommie when he drilled a three-run homer in the ninth inning to boost St. Thomas to an 18-12 win against the Omaha Mavericks in Omaha, Neb.
Fritcher is hitting . 221 with four homers, five doubles, two triples and 20 RBIs in his second year with Saint Thomas after he transferred to the school after a two-year stint with the Minnesota Gophers. The Tommies are now 9-29 overall.
Austin grad Marissa Shute recently competed in the Kip Janvrin Open at Simpson College for the Western Illinois track and field team. Shute had the fastest time in the 1500-meter run for the Leathernecks as she placed 55th with a time of 5:14. 19.
Blooming Prairie grad Macy Lembke has appeared in 27 games this season at Gustavus Adolphus. Lembke is hitting . 143 with three RBIs and five runs scored.
The Gusties are 17-17 overall.
