What to know about Coastal Carolina before UNC matchup
Coastal Carolina baseball is a national powerhouse, not just a mid-major. Here's what to know about the Chanticleers.
North Carolina will play in another top 10 matchup against the defending national runner up, No. 9 Coastal Carolina . The second-ranked Tar Heels are coming off a series win over Duke , their seventh straight series win since opening ACC play with a series loss to Virginia.
The Diamond Heels clinched the Duke series with a 22-5 throttling of the Blue Devils in the rubber match. The Chanticleers (30-13) are coming off a series win over Texas State. Coastal Carolina is building on a highly successful 2025 season in which it went 56-13, won the Sun Belt regular-season and tournament titles and finished as the national runner-up, losing to LSU under then first-year head coach Kevin Schnall.
The Chanticleers have several standout players. One of them is outfielder Dean Mihos, who leads the team in batting average (. 320), hits (55) and doubles (12), while also scoring 46 runs with five home runs and 33 RBIs.
They will also have solid pitching available tonight, with a potential appearance from closer Darin Horn, who has five saves this season. First pitch is set for 7 p. m.
