Wright State basketball: Raiders add Cedarville transfer

Apr. 27—The second transfer to join the Wright State men's basketball roster for the 2026-27 season started 55 games over the last two seasons at Cedarville University, a Division II program. Wright State announced the addition of Sam Johnson, a 6-foot-7 guard, on Monday, April 27.

Johnson, a graduate of Worthington Christian High School, has two seasons of eligibility remaining. He ranked second at Cedarville in scoring as a sophomore, averaging 14. 9 points per game, after averaging 12.

7 as a freshman. Johnson made the Great Midwest Athletic Conference first team in 2026. "Sam is joining us with a strong foundation and an impressive skill set on and off the floor," Wright State coach Clint Sargent said in a press release.

"We love his hunger to improve and his excitement to contribute to our program. He brings valuable depth to our frontcourt and plays with a high level of physicality when he has the ball in his hands. His size and mobility are exactly what we look for in our frontcourt players.

" Johnson led Cedarville in rebounding in both of his seasons, averaging 6. 0 as a freshman and 5. 9 as a sophomore.
