Cora managed the Red Sox for parts of seven seasons across two stints, leading the team to a World Series championship in 2018 after setting a franchise record with 108 regular-season wins. Triple-A Worcester manager Chad Tracy will serve as the Red Sox's interim manager for the time being.
After winning 5-3 against the Baltimore Orioles in his managerial debut, he teased a more "aggressive" play style for Boston during his postgame press conference. "I mean, like we talked about before, you guys asked about our team, and you know, style, the style matches the team," Tracy said in a video posted to YouTube by Sox Content on Sunday. "We have guys that are athletic, fast, we have speed.
So we can create things like we did today. We made some outs, and you know, maybe some were a little careless, but you want to be aggressive. " In his introductory press conference, Tracy mentioned he wanted to get players on base and be aggressive on the base paths, and that's what happened in his managerial debut.
