ESPN NFL experts still question the Rams drafting Ty Simpson

Yahoo Sports

There are still lingering questions about the Rams' decision to draft Ty Simpson early.

Ty Simpson’s draft status was still the topic of discussion on the latest episode of “Get Up” on ESPN. While some, including host Mike Greenberg, still had questions, the consensus is that it was a smart pick by the Los Angeles Rams , but it may be too early. Damian Woody thinks veteran Rams players may feel a certain way about the team not drafting someone who could come off the bench and help now.

"I want guys that can help me right now win a Super Bowl,” he said. Some feel the Rams still could have gotten Simpson later in the draft, while others, like Dan Orlovsky, who has been in Simpson’s corner from the get-go, feel like it was still the right move to make. "If you think the Rams are 52 catches and 4 touchdowns away from a wide receiver from going to the Super Bowl and winning it, you're out of your mind,” Orlovsky said.

Orlovsky said the Rams can always make a trade to get another wide receiver and that the team is smart to be drafting for the future in case Matthew Stafford doesn’t come back next year. "This is a Sean McVay decision. Make no doubts about it.
