Pilot wins second Gauntlet of Polo, defeating BTA in US Open final
WELLINGTON — After an 0-2 start, Pilot came back three weeks later to win the U. S. Open Polo Championship April 26 in front of a sellout crowd at National Polo Center .
The foursome of Curtis Pilot, Mackie Weisz, Lorenzo Chavanne and Jeta Castagnola spoiled BTA's championship debut with an impressive 15-10 victory to win its third U. S. Open title on U.
S. Polo Assn Field One. Pilot led second-year team BTA (KC Krueger, Steve Krueger, Tommy Panelo, Nachi Viana) from start to finish to win its second Gauntlet of Polo tournament, third U.
S. Open and $100,000 in prize money. Pilot was 8-2 in the first two tournaments, winning the USPA Gold Cup.
