When will Anthony Edwards return from bone bruise to Timberwolves?

•Yahoo Sports

Here's the latest on Anthony Edwards after he suffered a scary injury for the Timberwolves on Saturday night.

If the Minnesota Timberwolves wind up eventually advancing past the Denver Nuggets in their first-round series, they're probably going to need Anthony Edwards, their best player, to have a real shot at making a deep playoff run in the Western Conference. The bad news is that they probably won't see Edwards for a good while, regardless of what happens with Denver. After suffering a hyperextension and a bone bruise in his left knee in Saturday night's Game 4 victory, Edwards is expected to miss a minimum of multiple weeks .

Needless to say, that is a huge blow to the Timberwolves and their goals this postseason: Just in: Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has sustained a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee and is expected to miss multiple weeks, sources tell ESPN. Results showed Edwards avoided any ligament damage, but he will now miss time. pic.

twitter. com/zVgDQtxXRd — Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) April 26, 2026 Even if Edwards does push return earlier, should the Timberwolves advance, it stands to reason he very likely won't be 100 percent, will be out of rhythm, and will be pushing through some measure of pain. Per the Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute , even a mild bone bruise by severity can take 4-6 weeks to completely heal and recover.

Such a timeline would put a theoretical Edwards return around the 2026 NBA Finals, if the Timberwolves make it that far. That's awful news for both Edwards and the Timberwolves. For now, the latter have bigger fish to fry.
