What the Jaguars are doing in 2027 mocks
A linebacker? In this economy?!

That means we can start looking ahead to the upcoming football season, right?
Not so fast, my friends. Before we start previewing the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2026 season — by the way, they have +2500 odds to win Super Bowl LXI, according to FanDuel Sportsbook — let’s take a way-too-early look at what they could do in next year’s draft. SB Nation’s James Dator penned a 2027 mock draft in which the Jags select Clemson linebacker Sammy Brown with the 28th overall pick.
Brown was the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2024 before earning First-Team All-ACC recognition as a sophomore. The player appears to be certifiably good… but I’m not so sure about the position. After Second-Team All-Pro linebacker Devin Lloyd walked in free agency, many projected Jacksonville to nab a linebacker early in the 2026 draft.
Yet general manager James Gladstone and his staff didn’t target the position until Round 7. Why would 2027 be any different? In my opinion, a defensive lineman or pass-catcher would make much more sense.
