Todd Bowles is excited about the person and player the Bucs got in Rueben Bain Jr. with their first pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Rueben Bain Jr. has set out to prove people wrong and is entering the NFL with a chip on his shoulder. After being passed up by 14 teams before the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended his slide, each pick that passed added fuel to the flame.

You could see based on his walk to the stage that he meant business, and he is ready to create chaos on the Bucs behalf. Following the first day of the draft, both head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht spoke up about it. Specifically, they discussed selecting Bain and what he will bring to their team.

Bowles shared , "We couldn't be happier because of the mindset we're trying to change this year with the type of players we signed in free agency and the type of play that he does and the attitude he plays with and the force he plays withโ€ฆIt was really a no-brainer, and he fit everything we're trying to do and get back to from a mental physicality standpoint. His play shows that, and it was an easy decision. " Bain, working alongside Calijah Kancey and Vita Vea, has to have Bowles sleeping much better the last couple of nights.

He needs a strong presence on his defensive line in his defense, and for the first time in a while, he has that, thanks to the arrival of Bain. This article originally appeared on Bucs Wire: Todd Bowles is excited to say the least about Rueben Bain Jr.
