Carlos Ulberg shares update regarding recovery from knee surgery
Carlos Ulberg is satisfied with his ongoing recovery.
Carlos Ulberg is satisfied with his ongoing recovery. Ulberg (14-1) traded leather with Jiri Prochazka for the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 327 earlier this month in Miami. Ulberg evidently compromised his knee early in the fight, and victory seemed to be a mere inevitability for Prochazka.
However, โBlack Jagโ caught Prochazka with a clean combo and finished him to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat. Six days later, Ulberg underwent surgery for a torn ACL in his right knee. This led to concern about Ulberg potentially having to vacate his title due to inactivity.
However, the Kiwi is recovering impressively at the UFC Performance Institute, under the supervision of Dr. Heather Linden, UFCโs vice president of sports medicine. Ulberg is happy with the progress in his recovery.
While Ulberg initially expected to take six to eight months to fully recover, he hinted that he might recover faster. Healing Fast โI've done the groundwork, mentally, years ago, so I know how to put myself in the right mind frame,โ Ulberg told the UFC. โWorking with the PI, the staff have been amazing.
