Everyone thought the Los Angeles Rams would take an instant-impact player at No. 13 overall in the draft. They're the Super Bowl favorites and with a 38-year-old quarterback, it would've made sense for them to draft a player who can help them win now.

They did just the opposite in the first round, selecting Ty Simpson with the 13th pick . Fans and analysts were puzzled by the decision , but the Rams are more focused on sustaining success long-term than going all-in to win a ring this season. As a result, their top pick is someone they hope doesn't see the field at all in 2026.
