New Eagles edge-rusher Jonathan Greenard is prioritizing championships over personal stats
Jonathan Greenard's aspirations go far beyond piling up sack numbers.
The long-rumored Jonathan Greenard trade came to fruition during the NFL Draft, with the Eagles sending two third-round picks to Minnesota for the Pro Bowl pass-rusher. Additionally, Philadelphia signed Greenard to a four-year, $100 million contract extension that includes $50 million guaranteed. Landing Greenard is a major win for the Eagles, who had been searching for a premier edge-rusher after Jaelan Phillips departed for Carolina in free agency.
He was limited to just 12 games in 2025, but racked up 24. 5 sacks, 33 tackles for loss, and 44 QB hits over the previous two seasons. During Saturday's introductory press conference, Greenard was asked about getting back to double-digit sacks after a down year.
The six-year veteran made it clear that he doesn't care who finishes the play. Jonathan Greenard says his personal sack total isnโt the priority. โIf I get the quarterback down, cool.
If Nolan, JC, or JD get it, thatโs a sack in my mind. As long as weโre affecting the game, I promise you weโre gonna be in a good spot. โ pic.
