Clemson baseball swept by Louisville as Tigers’ brutal season goes on

Clemson baseball’s weekend in Louisville ended the same way the first two games did, with another missed opportunity and another loss. The Tigers dropped a 7-5 decision in extra innings on Sunday, getting swept after Louisville delivered the final blow with a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th. It was a tough way to finish a game Clemson had clawed back into late.

Down to their final outs in the ninth, Clemson finally came through with runners in scoring position. A clutch two-out single tied the game at five and gave the Tigers some life after chasing runs most of the afternoon. They even put the leadoff man on in the 10th and moved him into scoring position, but once again couldn’t deliver the hit they needed.

That theme defined the entire series finale. Clemson constantly created traffic on the bases but couldn’t finish innings. The Tigers left 17 runners stranded and struggled all day in key situations, continuing an issue that has followed them throughout the season.

There were some bright spots offensively. Clemson showed patience at the plate, drawing a high number of walks and finding ways to pressure Louisville’s pitching staff. One hitter reached base five times, helping spark multiple scoring chances.
