Tennessee Titans dynamic UDFA WR Tyren Montgomery has chance to surprise
The Tennessee Titans have started to add some talented undrafted rookies to the mix, and this small school wideout has a chance to surprise.
The Tennessee Titans surprised many when they selected Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate with the fourth overall selection in the 2026 NFL draft. Incredibly, many outside the organization have been critical of the selection. The same commentators and outlets that complained all offseason that the Titans needed to add another weapon for Cam Ward are the most outraged that Tennessee took the top wideout in the class.
Please, make it make sense. While the debate on Tate is a story for another day, there is another wide receiver coming to Nashville that could surprise. For a second straight season, general manager Mike Borgonzi and his staff landed an intriguing undrafted rookie free agent, who has a shot to make the 53-man roster: Jon Carroll University wideout Tyren Montgomery.
The Division III wide receiver was dominant in 2025, catching 119 passes for 1,528 yards and 15 touchdowns, averaging 109. 1 yards per game on the smaller stage. But his success didnโt stop there.
His outstanding season earned him an invite to the Senior Bowl, where the small-school product not only proved he belonged and that his raw skills translated to higher competition, but also flashed as one of the top wideouts throughout the week. Senior Bowl @seniorbowl executive director Drew Fabianich @DfabeSB on @jcusports new #Titans receiver Tyren Montgomery: โHe came in and he produced well. He did really great.
