Chiefs CB Mansoor Delane had a message for Commanders GM Adam Peters
Last week, many believed the Commanders would select Mansoor Delane in the NFL draft. The Chiefs did, and Delane had a message for Adam Peters.
One week ago, it appeared more and more like the Washington Commanders would select either LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane or Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Both were positions of need, arguably Washington's two biggest positions of need.
However, things shifted last Thursday when the Tennessee Titans surprisingly took Tate at No. 4, followed by the New York Giants ' selection of Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese at No. 5 overall.
So, while Tate and Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love were off the board, Delane, Ohio State LB Sonny Styles and safety Caleb Downs were still on the board. But before the Commanders went on the clock, the Kansas City Chiefs executed a trade with the Cleveland Browns , taking on the No. 6 pick.
Kansas City selected Delane. The Commanders liked Delane, meeting with him multiple times, and he's also a native of nearby Silver Spring. After the Chiefs moved up to pick Delane, he had a message for Washington GM Adam Peters.
