Manchester United eyeing Nottingham Forest defender Murillo
Manchester United eyeing Nottingham Forest defender Murillo Manchester United are interested in recruiting the services of Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo in the summer, according to the Telegraph . Man United are looking to strengthen their options in defence at the Old Trafford club for next season and the Red Devils have made background checks on a number of left-footed centre-backs. Murillo has earned a burgeoning reputation at Forest as he continues to impress in just his third season in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old was dubbed ‘the most watchable centre-back in modern football’ by The Athletic due to his style of play, and Man United could do with such a player. The Red Devils also have Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky Van de Ven on their radar, and while his price tag could drop this summer should Spurs be relegated, the Dutchman will not be short of top suitors. He reportedly prefers to join Liverpool ahead of other clubs in the Premier League, and Man United may need to concentrate their efforts on Murillo.
BBC Match of the Day’s Mark Chapman has labelled the defender as ‘the best in the Premier League at goal line clearances’, and the Red Devils could do with his quality at the back. The Brazil international is comfortable and confident on the ball, and his speed, balance, timing, anticipation and ability to read danger some of the qualities which have attracted him to Man United and others.
