Ravens double down on versatility with Day 3 NFL draft picks

Yahoo Sports

The Baltimore Ravens prioritized versatility in their late-round draft picks, aiming for flexibility and unpredictability in their offense.

Ravens Double Down on Offensive Versatility Late in Draft The Ravens didn’t just add talent on Day 3; they added options. Baltimore clearly prioritized versatility across its late-round selections, particularly at wide receiver and tight end. When asked about drafting players with overlapping skill sets, general manager Eric DeCosta made it clear that was by design, not coincidence.

Addressing how similar players like Ja’Kobi Lane, Elijah Sarratt, Matt Hibner and Josh Cuevas fit together, DeCosta explained: “We think the biggest thing is just that they’re versatile players that do some really good things. They’re not exactly the same. Our vision for Ja’Kobi [Lane] is probably a little bit different than maybe the vision for [Elijah] Sarratt… I love the fact that they’re both versatile players who can do different things… In our offense… versatility and flexibility and being able to do a lot of different things is really important.

” That philosophy shows up all over this class. Baltimore isn’t boxing players into roles; they’re building flexibility into the roster. And in today’s NFL, that’s how you stay unpredictable.
