Cora was fired hours after the Red Sox mollywhopped the Baltimore Orioles, 17-1, on Saturday afternoon. After the postgame dinner, Cora returned to the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore where principal owner John Henry, team president/CEO Sam Kennedy and chief baseball officer Craig Breslow awaited to break the news. “Incredibly difficult day,” Kennedy told MassLive outside the hotel .
