Yankees promote top prospect following Giancarlo Stanton’s Injury

Yahoo Sports

The New York Yankees are making a significant roster move, and it comes with both urgency and excitement. With Giancarlo Stanton heading to the injured list, the Yankees have called up top prospect Jasson Domínguez, signaling a potential turning point for their lineup. The Yankees have one of the best records in the American League and MLB right now, having won eight of their past nine games; however, losing Stanton’s bat creates a major void in the offense, one that isn’t easy to replace.

Domínguez, one of the most highly touted prospects in baseball, now gets another opportunity to step into a meaningful role at the big-league level. Despite starting in the big leagues last year and playing most of the season there, Dominguez was the odd man out when Spring Training ended this season.

This promotion should come as no surprise to those following Domínguez’s start in Triple-A. He has been on an absolute tear to begin the season: Consistent power production Strong on-base presence Impact both at the plate and on the bases Simply put, he forced the Yankees’ hand. When a prospect performs at that level, keeping him in the minors becomes harder to justify, especially when a need arises at the major league level.
