Saints win series finale at Indianapolis
Ryan Kriedler’s two-run homer in the top of the first gave the St. Paul Saints all the cushion they needed to win Sunday’s series finale at Indianapolis by a 3-1 score. Kriedler’s blast to right center plated Kaelen Culpepper to put the visitors up 2-0.
An Orlando Arcia RBI single scored Mitch Jebb in the sixth inning to increase the edge to 3-0 before Indianapolis got a solo homer from Enmanuel Valdez in the ninth to avoid the shutout. Saints starter Zebby Matthews improved to 1-2 on the season by out-pitching the Indians’ Jose Urquidy with five innings of one-hit, one-walk ball with six strikeouts. Luis Garcia collected the save in the ninth, despite giving up two hits and a home run that accounted for Indianapolis’ lone run of the game.
