Texas football: These 12 Longhorns project as picks in the 2027 NFL Draft
A dozen players for the Texas Longhorns project as picks in the 2027 NFL Draft, including Arch Manning, Colin Simmons and Trevor Goosby.
After seeing 23 players selected across the 2024 and 2025 NFL drafts, Texas football had just six players taken across the three days of the 2026 draft, which took place Thursday-Saturday. That number is still tied for the fourth most in program history since the NFL trimmed the draft from 12 rounds to eight in 1993 and then to seven in 1994. Since 1993, Texas has only had double-figure picks twice: in 2024 (11) and 2025 (12).
The Longhorns set a school record for most picks with 17 in 1984, when the NFL still used a 12-round draft format. Could next yearโs draft crop challenge the school record in the modern draft era of 12 picks set in 2025? Possibly, especially if Texas lives up to its likely billing as a top-five preseason squad .
Here are the Texas players that the American-Statesman projects for the 2027 NFL draft. Texas Longhorns defensive end Colin Simmons (1) celebrates a tackle for a loss in the second quarter of the Citrus Bowl against the Wolverines at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, Dec. 31, 2025.
