Is Victor Wembanyama returning from concussion to play for Spurs on Sunday?

•Yahoo Sports

Here's the latest on Victor Wembanyama's status after he suffered a scary concussion in Game 2 against the Trail Blazers.

Buoyed by a terrific Dylan Harper performance, the San Antonio Spurs were able to take back homecourt advantage against the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series. And they did it without unanimous Defensive Player of the Year Victor Wembanyama, who suffered a scary concussion in Game 2 . But so much of what the Spurs want to do as a basketball team centers on Wembanyama's tremendous gifts.

They can only play well and get wins for so long without him. Eventually, the chickens will come to roost if he can't play . Fortunately for the Spurs, the superstar MVP finalist is ready to go for Game 4 in Portland.

Wembanyama has officially cleared concussion protocol and will play against the Trail Blazers with an opportunity to help give the Spurs a commanding 3-1 series lead. This news should obviously be a huge sigh of relief to everyone in the San Antonio organization: San Antonio's Victor Wembanyama has cleared concussion protocol and will play in Game 4 against the Portland Trail Blazers (3:30 pm ET on ESPN), per me and @malika_andrews . pic.

One dynamite performance from both might give San Antonio a chance to advance and close this first-round series out at home in Game 5 on Tuesday night.
